It’s made by angry people who are not interested in seriously debating the church. There are plenty of points that could be seriously and rationally arguing for and against the church and its doctrine, this is just weak, spineless fear mongering and misrepresentation.

This is such a perenially debate that is so fruitless. Mormons are Christians by the definition most of the world cares about and is interested in. There are elements of classical or evangelical Christianity that Mormons definitely do not subscribe to, and do not intend to. If that fact makes us unChristian in the eyes of those people, unfortunately the answer has to be respectfully “so be it, we will continue to live and believe and allow everyone else to do the same.”

Baptisms for the dead is so unique in the religious world today I think it’s important to understand it is not a shady, scary, or secret practice, but an open, caring attempt to reach out to others, past, present, and future.

I am not suggesting that there aren’t incredibly close minded and bigoted Mormons, as there are in any group. What I am saying is that or doctrine should make us the most open minded people on earth
